The pupils of the Erich-Kästner Primary School in Limburg, near Frankfurt were very proud to have collected a large amount of money by participating in a donation run. The proceeds were meant to build a climbing garden at their school’s playground and with additional funding from the city of Limburg the necessary equipment could be bought. However, an important part was lacking: the financing of the assembly and installation by the manufacturer.
A colleague from Functional Chemicals in Frankfurt heard about the problem and asked for support from the Community Program at the same time recruiting 8 more volunteering employees to actually help install the low rope garden. Also support from our Coatings colleagues at Schönox in Rosendahl was requested who provided them with 5 tons of high-quality concrete. It took our brave volunteers two and a half days to prepare the building site by digging, preparing the foundation and finally installing the climbing equipment for the playground of the school.
Their hard work was highly appreciated by the impatient students who were officially handed over the jungle gym. Considering that it is altogether over 18 meters long and that it consists of 8 individual components such as balancing ropes, climbing bars and a suspension bridge, our volunteering colleagues deserve a big compliment for their hard labor.
